AFTER reading the council’s proposals for parks and green spaces etc, I am appalled that our parks could be left open and undefended by rangers. The many problems we have had over the years with vandals, drug users and drunks has been covered by me ad nauseum in Grassroots and letters, and after spending millions of pounds of lottery funding some years back, Belle Vue Park could go feral.
I wonder if those responsible for giving lottery grants are aware of this situation. I am also fearful of potential fly tipping and overfilled bins if winter green bin collections are stopped. The streets could be running with rubbish and rats.
A better idea for saving some money would be have only one councillor to represent each ward where two or three are seated; the one with the highest number of votes in the last election should be kept in office and do the work of those lost. Earn our money, councillors.
