I FIND it despicable for the Welsh Assembly to consider raising the price per unit of alcohol, irrespective of how well-founded their ideas may be. No-one enjoys his pint more than I, like many thousands of others.
It should not be the likes of us who should be penalised for enjoying a pint or two or a glass of wine. It is the likes of those who go out, get legless, full of beer bravado, causing fights etc that should be made to pay.
All too often we see in the media that much of the problems result from the excessive intake of alcohol which requires medical treatment either by ambulance personnel or at A&E, or receive help or disciplinary procedures when the police become involved – or both. All of which should be paid for by the perpetrators and not the likes of us.
Welsh Assembly members, please consider this rather than make the likes of the sensible pay for the stupid.
