WHEN is a bus service not a bus service? When the driver of the No. 2 bus decides not to follow the route down to Cardigan Crescent because it’s at his discretion not to because he is driving a big bus!
So, why has Stagecoach PLC put such a bus on this route when, according to the driver, it’s not suitable? Why is it other drivers of similar big buses frequently drive down there on a regular basis with few problems?
Is it fair that three pensioners are made to wait a further 15 minutes (30 minutes or longer) in a bus stop on Cardigan Crescent in the hope that a smaller bus will arrive? (I dare say, the wait on a cold winter’s day is appreciated!) I’m also glad the driver had a smile on his face as I got off the bus at Caerwent Road with two bags of shopping and a box!
But hey, give a driver a little bit of power and it’s sure to go to his head! Perhaps it will be someone in a wheelchair next to get the “discretion” treatment!
