HAS Andrew Nutt’s criticism of Ukip (Argus, May 18) highlighted a quirk of parliamentary administration?
The £650,000 that Ukip MP Douglas Carswell says he does not need was allocated according to the number of votes that the party had received.
In other words, more or less, proportional representation.
Does that mean that many working within the Westminster machine support PR?
Methinks Mr Carswell has missed a trick there.
A lot of political operators would have taken the money and used it as a propaganda tool to further the PR cause.
There are plenty of canny people beavering away for Ukip who may have had the same idea.
Don’t forget, they were third-largest party in terms of votes in the recent General Election, so it’s hardly surprising they are a bit miffed at only having one MP to shout their cause.
