FURTHER to the praiseworthy and informative letter (23.7.15) by Ms. O. Davies, I only disagree with her comment that “it is no use complaining” about the filthy pigeon-mess strewn state of Newport’s Market Arcade and city centre streets.
If only more Newport City citizens complained, then perhaps Newport City Council might wake up like Swansea City Council (and Cardiff!?).
Swansea has acted by warning the small band of irresponsible members of the public ,that feeding the pigeons by dropping food on the ground could lead to a fixed notice penalty for littering.
Posters and stickers on litter-bins are planned, warning of bird-feeding fines.
I wonder if Newport City Council has any plans to prevent pigeons’ mess covering the eagerly awaited Friars Walk Shopping and Entertainment Centre?
