MY ninety-three-year-old mother Constance King of Oakfield, Cwmbran and myself attended the VJ Day 70 on August 15 Service of Commemoration and Veteran’s Parade from Horse Guards Parade to Westminster Abbey.
Afternoon tea was arranged in the College Gardens in the grounds of the Abbey where Mum was introduced to Camilla.
Dad passed away in 2000 and would have been 99 years old on August 21st.
My mum was there to represent my Dad, Mervyn King who was in the Fleet Air Arm, served in Burma and was on duty and present at the signing of the Japanese surrender in Singapore that day.
What a wonderful day and so proud of all the Veterans who took part.
