AN OPEN message to the University of South Wales management and Newport City Council planners: Caerleon Campus site should not be sold off for housing under any circumstance.
Whatever is to be put there should not require more housing than already exists locally, but should provide employment for the inhabitants of that housing, thereby helping to reverse the increasing throttling grip that traffic congestion has on the wonderful old town that is Caerleon.
The University of South Wales, above all, should recognise this moral need and fight the so-said legal requirement to capitalise on its opportunity.
I am sure it would receive strong support from those of us who have already forwarded their names against such a self-serving greedy proposal – or is there already a plan afoot to set up some awful gated community with specially-imported employees to serve its high-tech clandestine goings-on?
