I FOR one am pleased there will be a ban on cyclists riding through the city. Last year while shopping in the city, I wanted to visit a shop on the opposite side of the road, and just as I was going to step out, a cyclist whizzed past me, followed a few seconds later by his mate.
As I’m waiting for a hip operation, I dread to think of the consequences if I had been knocked down.
A few weeks after the incident I spoke to a P.C.O concerning the fact that there was supposedly a £30 fine on anyone cycling through the city. I was told it was difficult to police as the cyclists are gone before they are able to apprehend them.
For those responsible cyclists who need their bike to get them to work, perhaps there could be a system where they apply for a permit which allows them access.
