COLIN Durham, ex Labour councillor, has been in hospital for sometime now. In this time the support from the friends and neighbours in the village of Ynysddu/Cwmfelinfach/ YRFC has been outstanding. Anything needed has been provided without hesitation. However, there hasn’t been any contact from the party he has supported for more than 30 years, the party pretending to care for those in time of need. It is apparent that once he let go of his councillor role, he has become surplus to the party needs. As I have grown up during this time I have seen the hours given to helping/organising etc. I would have thought one person could have made contact, but no. Thank God that Ynysddu still has community morals. With signals such as these being shown to local Labour party members, it is no surprise that the party is in difficulty. Leadership and thoughtful acts are a bygone ethos in both Islwyn and Caerphilly CLP.
