RECENT reports in the Argus have stated that Friar’s Walk developer Queensbury Real Estate will pay back with interest the £90 million loan from Newport Council by December and that Council Leader Debbie Wilcox will make the regeneration of Newport a priority for the council.
With this in mind, I would like to ask Councillor Wilcox when the work to the new bus station will be completed.
To be more specific, when will the real-time screens that were installed in the bus station months ago, be brought into use? I contacted Newport Council about this during June.
I was told that they are part of a full real-time system which includes individual stop Totems which they are awaiting delivery of so they were not able to get the screens running until the full system is installed.
Three months have now passed and bus users are still having to walk up and down the bus station searching for the bus that they need.
Many of the temporary notices at stops have been vandalised and most are difficult to read anyway.
Concentrate on getting the basics finished please Councillor. Attention to detail is important.
