READING that the listed public toilet on Alexandra Road, Pill (Argus 13.1.17) is “surplus to Newport City Labour council’s requirements”, my first thought was that it’s a case of Newport Labour Council fooling Newport Citizens again – and obviously the civic centre has clean, warm, safe and maintained inside toilets!
The listed toilet building should be re-located to a central site on Commercial Street for the benefit of locals and visitors-some of them “bursting” with loads of shopping!
Are Newport Labour councillors, council officers and spokespersons aware that the only public facilities in Newport’s shopping centre, besides Friars Walk area, are the two grotty, unsightly, smelly offerings in the High Street Newport indoor market?
Not a pretty sight for a city!
Do they care?
