THE Pill toilets are a piece of social history and should not be demolished or sold for a different use.
I must presume that the inside (the urinals) of the block are also subject to Grade II listing and if this is the case, it is difficult to imagine any other use for the building, other than refurbished toilets.
I would suggest that Newport City Council donate the building to the National Museum of Wales at St Fagans, if it is so important.
Enough of Newport’s heritage and architecture has been lost in redevelopment already.
