I SUGGEST Mr Sheppard refers to a dictionary to research the meaning of ‘Democratic debate’
In the ongoing debate in the Argus letters regarding the cost to the taxpayers of implementing the Welsh language legislation, Mr Sheppard is the only person who has resorted to inane mockery and unwarranted slights to anyone who disagrees with him.
In none of my letters have I blamed the Welsh language for the shortcomings in education or the NHS in Wales. My brief, as a taxpayer, is that over £60 million spent over the last years to promote the Welsh language is an excessive amount in times of forced austerity. Also a spectacular failure.
With Wales having the highest percentage of 11 year olds in the UK unable to read or write in any language I still believe the money could be better spent addressing this problem.
Mr Sheppard has still not answered my original question to him: Will he explain to all our grandchildren why the Senedd, after spending mega millions imposing the Welsh language on its citizens, is still conducting its official business in English?
