IN REPLY to Peter Strong’s attempt to correct me in the Argus, I suggest he forgets what Google that great arbiter of taste and Americanisation says, and look up some other sources for his facts.
The term AD and BC were in widespread use prior to the 9th century and are based on the Gregorian calendar, and according to the Daily Telegraph amongst others, it has only been changed here in the the last 9 years due to American outcry and political correctness.
Although academia and officialdom have used the BC and BCE since the 6th century, BC was used from AD 325 and AD from the 14th century.
The point I was making was about the pc brigade wasting everyone’s time with meaningless drivel. In the end you pay your money and make your choice. Who cares anyway.
