I left Newport 15 years ago,upon returning I was shocked at what has become of commercial street.Its all very well to build the nice new Friars walk development but the once grand and thriving centrepiece of the town has sunk into a desperate state,full of homeless,rough sleepers,druggies,alcoholics and scary looking people of all nationalities.,a sad state of affairs.On top of this awful experience,trying to enter the town from Cardiff,the massive road works on every roundabout is a huge deterrent to any potential visitor.Sad to say I shall not be returning and will continue to shop in Cardiff, Newport has become a run down and undesirable down market dump.
