IN response to the article regarding Tredegar Park in Risca (April 24). Let’s get some facts right about this park. It wasn’t given to the people of the town of Risca as the article states. If the person who passed the information on to the Argus reporter made the effort to read the plaque which is situated in the middle of the park, it clearly states that on June 22 1897, this park was given to the inhabitants of the Parish of Risca.
The parish also includes the town of Pontymister and the villages of Crosskeys, Pontywaun and Wattsville. Another fact is that when this park was given to the people of the district, this park was firmly in Pontymister!
