THE LETTER from Howard Morgan raises some interesting points.

It was a Welsh King Henry Tudor VII (of the Tudors of Penmynydd, Anglesey) who used the flag of St George being as a flag for both (sharp intake of breath) Christian nations.

He, a Welsh king, decreed that English should be the first language of court, changing it from French! Pragmatism. And put a Welsh dragon on the royal coat of arms. James 1 (England), or James VI, a Scottish king, got rid of the Welsh dragon from the royal coat of arms and brought the flag of St Andrew and St George together in 1601, The first recognisable Union flag.

So, it’s the Scots we need to blame? Later on the Act of Union with Ireland brought in the flag of St Patrick.

The present Welsh flag design was not invented or recognised until about 1920. So I agree with Mr Morgan the introduction of St David’s flag is a good idea. If Scotland leaves the union, as Ireland has, then a whole redesign is needed and Wales, Northern Ireland and England incorporated.

Or should we totally surrender and fly only the European flag that does not have a star representing Wales? So let’s please stop blaming the English for everything!
