The recent TV hit “Last Choir Standing” has hopefully triggered a response from young (or not so young) men to hotfoot it to a local choir.
They have a number to choose from in the Gwent area and Ron Comfort tells me that the Gwent Police Choir extends a warm welcome to any aspiring singers, experienced or not, who don’t need to have any connection with the Police. You won’t have to dance or whirl canes like the winners of the competition “Only Men Aloud” but there is a varied programme of concerts and social events. The first is a concert at the St Julian’s Senior Citizens’ Club, Orchard Lane, on Monday 22nd September at 7.15pm. In October the Choir is travelling to France to sing in two concerts. The eagerly awaited Annual Concert at St Julian’s Methodist Church is on Saturday 15th November, when the guests will be the St Piran Singers, a lively ladies’ choir from Looe in Cornwall. The Choir practices at the Police HQ in Croesyceiliog on Mondays and Thursdays at 7.30pm. If you are interested, ring Ron Comfort on 667 899.
