The photograph shows three St Julian’s Junior School Eco Champions receiving the runner up award in the Water Efficiency category of the Eco Schools National Awards at the Millennium Stadium.
Matthew Davies, Molly Bell, Grace Morgan received the awards organized by Keep Wales Tidy.
The opening address was given by Jane Davidson the Minister for the Environment. St Julian’s Head Teacher David Rees was there together with Council Leader, Matthew Evans and me as Cabinet Member for Young People’s Services.
Eco Schools champion the environment, water and energy conservation, biodiversity, wildlife and flowers, gardening, composting, re-cycling, litter collection, Fair Trade, Global Citizenship and healthy eating.
36 Newport schools have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag with a further six at the application stage.
Molly lives in St Julian’s Road, Grace in Beechwood Road and Matthew in Brynderwen Avenue. Grace is on the School Council and Molly and Matthew are on the Eco Committee.
