Itistenyearssincethe famousauthorAlexanderCordellpassedaway, and hismemorylivesoninhis writingsinthetourismtrailsofthecountryside,featuredinhisnovels andintheCordellLiteraryFestival.
Enjoyingthewonderfulweather,visitorslistenedtomusicfromTredegar TownBand,KidsrUsandDawsonSmithandtheExiles,allplayinginthe Victorianbandstand.Childrenplayedcroquetonthelawnsandmade Victoriangifts,asparentsbrowsedarts and craftandfoodmarquees.
TheOwlSanctuaryfromEbbwValedisplayedtheirspectacularbirds, walkingtours exploringtheheritageandtreecollectionsinthepark andthroughout thedayheritagebustoursoftheAneurinBevanTrailwereheld.
Theevent'sfinalewastheannouncementoftheCordellLiteraturePrize for2007,sponsoredbythe SouthWalesArgus.
RoyNoble,aloyalsupporterof thefestival,wasonhandtoannouncethewinners, and firstprizewenttoMairDe-GarePitt,fromCwmbran,with her entryentitledThere isaGreenHillFarAway.
Secondplace went toSionabEdwart,fromSwansea,withWhereOttersSplash andLizardsThrive, and in third place GwynethLowe,fromBarking,Essex, with herAMemory-EverGreen.
ThiseventwasorganisedbyBlaenauGwent,Monmouthshire,Torfaen, Caerphilly,MerthyrTydfil,RhonddaCynonTaffandNeath&PortTalbot Councils,aswellaslocalcommunitygroups.
