Chocolate lovers may be in for a shock this Easter as shrinkflation hits the chocolate aisle, leaving shoppers paying more for smaller eggs.
Savings experts have analysed Easter egg prices across major supermarkets and revealed which brands have shrunk the most – and where shoppers can still get the best value in 2026.
Experts say rising cocoa costs are partly responsible, but shoppers can still find good deals if they compare prices carefully.
Research by VoucherCodes.co.uk compared prices at supermarkets including Asda, Tesco, Aldi and Marks & Spencer.
It found several popular eggs have shrunk in size while becoming more expensive per gram.
Easter eggs hit by shrinkflation
Some of Britain’s best-known chocolate treats have become noticeably smaller this year.
The Maltesers Teasers large egg is now 18% smaller, while the price per gram has risen by 38%.
Meanwhile the Cadbury Extra-Large Twirl Easter egg has dropped 9.5% in weight, yet costs 16.7% more, meaning the price per 100g has jumped nearly 29%.
Even where sizes have stayed the same, prices have climbed. The famous Lindt Gold Bunny is now up to 27% more expensive year-on-year.

Expert tip for saving money on Easter chocolate
Savings expert Zoe Morris says shoppers should always compare price per gram rather than the overall price.
She advises looking out for:
- loyalty discounts
- supermarket multibuys

- late promotions closer to Easter
Prices can also drop as supermarkets clear seasonal stock, meaning shoppers who wait until closer to the holiday may find bigger bargains.
