DRAGONS v TREVISO (Friday, KO 7.30)

WILL Harries is fit, refreshed and ready to fire for Newport Gwent Dragons in a crucial month.

The Rodney Parade region sit one from bottom of the RaboDirect Pro12 with just three wins to their name.

But they have a golden opportunity to dramatically improve that record and their league placing over the next four weeks.

They welcome Treviso to Newport on Friday and then face home games against Glasgow and Leinster sides hit by international calls either side of a trip to winless Zebre.

The Dragons have a spring in their step courtesy of a pair of hard-fought LV= Cup wins against the Ospreys and London Welsh and are determined to stay on a roll.

And Wales wing Harries hopes to be in the thick of the action after being rested for those victories.

“It was good for me to have a rest and I am coming into this period fresh, hopefully I can bring some energy and spark,” said the 25-year-old.

“I haven’t just had two weeks off sitting around and watching TV, I’ve been training hard and have been able to concentrate on other fitness and conditioning work that you can’t afford to do close to a game.

“It means that I can hit the ground running because it’s going to be a massive part of the season for us.

“We had been building and going close in games but after the boys got the wins we really go into this month with high confidence.”

Treviso provided 16 members of the Italy squad that beat France last weekend and will be without a sizeable chunk of their squad on Friday evening.

That will hit their hopes of a fourth win on the spin against the Dragons but Harries insists Treviso will be no pushover.

“They might be hit by international calls but they have a strong squad and play some good stuff,” he said. “But we just need to concentrate on our own form and put in another good performance.

“These past few weeks have been about building towards Treviso, so we must not put that to waste.”

The Dragons have suffered a blow with experienced lock Rob Sidoli still out of action with a shoulder injury sustained against the Ospreys a fortnight ago.

That sees Josh Tyler, who came off the bench at London Welsh, retained.
