NEWPORT County AFC have moved to ease their defensive injury worries by signing Swansea City youngster Scott Tancock on loan from Swansea City.

The Wales under-21 international arrives at Rodney Parade from County's Premier League neighbours on an initial one-month emergency loan deal.

With Andrew Hughes suspended and Kevin Feely, Ryan Jackson and Byron Anthony injured Exiles boss Justin Edinburgh needed to add defensive cover and the club are confident that Tancock should be available to face AFC Wimbledon tomorrow afternoon.

A statement on the official Swansea City website reads: "Swans under-21s captain Scott Tancock has joined League Two club Newport County on a one-month loan.

"The 20-year-old centre-back, who has been with the Swans since he was 12, will aim to gain his first experience of senior football after joining up with Justin Edinburgh's side."

Tancock also posted a message on Twitter about the move, writing: "Delighted to have signed for @NewportCounty on loan for the month!! Can't wait to get going tomorrow!!"
