SUPER sub Joe Pigott earned a point for Newport County AFC with a 30-yard leveller to peg back Accrington Stanley in front of 3,254 fans at Rodney Parade.
The visitors looked like taking all three points back north after Sean Maguire gave them a shock lead on 63 minutes.
John Coleman’s side missed several chances to put the game beyond the Exiles before Pigott fired into the top corner from 30 yards on 72 minutes.
The draw lifts Justin Edinburgh's men into the play-off places but they will drop out of the top seven again if Morecambe earn a point or more at home to Exeter City on Sunday afternoon.
Edinburgh said: "I didn't think we were as fluid as we have been and I thought we started slow but then got a grip of the first half and ended strongly.
"But again we didn't go out and start how we finished the first half and it seemed like everything was running away and the passing was a little bit loose.
"It was very frustrating as an afternoon but sometimes you have to give the opposition credit."
