WASPS' opponents Stoke have made a further team change ahead of tomorrow's Premier League opener at the Hayley Stadium.

The Potters have endured a miserable start to the season, losing all seven of their Premier Trophy fixtures so far.

They have already replaced captain Robbie Kessler with former Newport man Glenn Cunningham - and now they have brought 22-year-old Lee Complin out of retirement to take the place of Paul Pickering.

Complin, a Sheffield asset, was touted as one of Britain's major rising stars but quit the sport for family reasons at the end of the 2002 season.

He will make his Potters debut at home to Sheffield tonight and then take his place at Newport tomorrow.

Stoke promoter Dave Tattum, who had been linked with a move for the experienced Paul Thorp, said: "Other riders kept putting me off and I needed to act quickly because of the averages."

Wasps go into the meeting on the back of two consecutive home wins against Mildenhall and Somerset - who clash at West Row in tomorrow's other Premier League fixture.

Phil Morris should be fit to return after experiencing chest pains and requiring attention following his crash in Heat 13 of last week's victory over the Rebels.

Team boss Neil Street said: "This team can only improve, they all want to learn and the enthusiasm runs through the whole side.

"We had a really good meeting last Sunday and it was great to see a few more people there as well supporting us. Hopefully we'll be able to grow the crowd as they see the effort that's being put in."

Stoke have won at the Hayley Stadium on their last two visits, just at the time when injuries have started to bite the Wasps.

And their riders will be fully aware that further changes could be on the agenda from their unhappy promotion - but Newport need to ensure that the Potters' troubles continue tomorrow.
