CROSS Keys will not be renewing the contract of backs coach Nicky Lloyd when the current season ends.

Lloyd will leave the Pandy Park outfit after next weekend's home game with Bridgend, and Keys have already earmarked and been in discussions with the man they want to replace him.

But the 35-year-old schoolteacher will not be in the jobs market as he has joined Aberavon in the same role.

Robert Beale and Greg Woods have signed up for another campaign, with the latter stepping up to the role of forwards coach from fitness coach.

Club secretary Chris Clarke said: "We know that the squad have not perhaps lived up to expectations and we believe that we need to freshen up the set-up and refocus.

"We have been happy with Nicky's commitment since he joined the club (three seasons ago) and we wish him all the best for the future."

Keys currently sit in 13th place in the table with just one game left, and have been plagued by inconsistency this season.

Fantastic wins over the likes of Neath, Cardiff and Llanelli have contrasted with disappointing defeats to Bedwas, Llandovery and Glamorgan Wanderers.

In addition to Beale and Woods committing for 2007-8, 22 players have signed on the dotted line, with the club planning to make an announcement at the end of the season.
