NEWPORT County AFC will head to the Rhondda next month after being invited to play Ton Pentre in an annual event for community-owned football clubs.
The Exiles are set to face the Welsh League Division One outfit in the Brian Lomax SD Cup at Ynys Park on Wednesday, July 6 (kick-off 7.15pm).
Renamed this year in honour of the man considered to be the founding father of the supporters’ trust movement, the is funded by football fans from all over the country.
The Supporters Direct competition, which also features the SD Shield, celebrates the role fans play in owning and supporting their own clubs.
The trophies are sponsored by Supporters Direct and funded by fans.
Peacehaven FC will host Lewes FC in the SD Shield on Wednesday, July 20.
