WELSH Cycling has announced the four riders who will represent Team USN at the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup series in Los Angeles later this month.
Risca’s Sam Harrison, Abergavenny’s Rachel James, Newport’s Jon Mould and Lewis Oliva of Devauden, Monmouthshire, will compete at the final round of the series from February 25 to February 26.
National champion Oliva will contest the men’s keirin and sprint, while James will compete in the women’s events.
Mould will return to the track for the scratch race, and will be joined by Harrison for the madison.
Wales’ Elinor Barker will represent Great Britain in Los Angeles, with Manon Lloyd and Emily Nelson in British colours at the third round in Colombia next weekend.
Performance director Matt Cosgrove said: “Team USN had a good start to the 2016/2017 World Cup series in Glasgow, with Sam and Lewis on the podium followed by strong performances in Apeldoorn.
“Jon is returning form a block on the road in Australia and New Zealand with JLT Condor where he won a stage of the New Zealand Cycle Classic, and Rachel showed good form at the national championships winning two medals.
“We are now a year away from Gold Coast 2018. The World Cup provides us with an opportunity to compete against world class competition, and gauge how the riders have progressed through the winter.”
