BLACKWOOD'S Lauren Williams claimed a bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix in Rome despite being hindered by a double hamstring tear.
The 19-year-old beat world champions Ruth Gbagbi of the Ivory Coast in the quarter-finals of the women's -67g category before losing 23-11 to Weit Henin of France.
The European champion was frustrated that her leg issues denied her the chance to win silver or gold.
"I am gutted," said Williams. "I had two strong performances in the last 16 (against Italy's Daniela Rotolo) and the quarter-finals though I started off poorly.
"On reflection, it has been a decent day considering the restriction I have had in training due to a couple of hamstring injuries.
"I am looking forward now to some time off. Now is the perfect chance to re-charge, rest-up and get ready for later in the season."
