Monday's meeting at Chepstow has been transferred to Ffos Las.

Racing was abandoned after two races at Chepstow on Bank Holiday Monday due to unsafe ground.

The British Horseracing Authority has permitted the switch to Ffos Las and original entries for the Chepstow races will be cancelled.

Entries for the new races will close at noon on Thursday and the card at Ffos Las will feature seven races as planned.

Race conditions will closely resemble those originally scheduled for Chepstow.

Arena Racing Company racing director Jon Pullin: "We have undergone a thorough investigation and inspection of the turf at Chepstow today in conjunction with our agronomist and the BHA racecourse inspectorate.

"The cause of the damage looks to have been a lack of root growth, which is a direct consequence of the incredibly dry summer we have had this year.

"This lack of binding between the turf and soil, combined with the high levels of rainfall in the run up to the meeting were the cause of the problems experienced on Monday.

"We would like to reiterate our unreserved apologies to our customers and to horsemen who were inconvenienced on Monday.

"Work will be taking place to repair and renovate the ground on Chepstow’s flat course immediately."

ARC are giving 50 per cent refunds to racegoers who write to the course and include their tickets. The company is also compensating owners and jockeys involved in the abandoned races.

Customers who have booked general admission, the restaurant or hospitality for next Monday have the option of transferring to Ffos Las, transferring to another fixture at Chepstow or receiving a refund.

These customers are all being contacted by the racecourse team.

Admission for the Ffos Las fixture is £10 in advance and £15 on the day (concessions £10). A two-course carvery package is available in the restaurant for £39 per head including VAT. Boxes are also available on request.

These tickets and packages are available to buy online on the Ffos Las website or by calling the office on 01554 811092.

The gates will open at 12.15pm, the first race is 2.15pm and the last race is 5.15pm.

A decision about the remaining two Chepstow flat fixtures on Thursday 13th September and Tuesday 18th September will be made as soon as possible.
