ALDERLEY Edge Golf Club’s Tom Ricketts comfortably secured victory in a nine-hole stableford, finishing with a score of 20 points, writes Nathan Okell.

It was also easy pickings for Edge ladies' T Broomhall and Celia Brent, who in a betterball stableford competition posted an impressive 40 points – six more than B Evans and Y Grundy.

The third Styal Golf Club Seniors Winter League stableford needed a card play-off on 39 points to see Gordon Hamilton move into top spot, just out of reach from Peter Robins and one ahead of Harry Reid.

In par action, Styal’s division one men led through Jeffrey Chadwick with a score of +3, one above Nick Gillings on +2.

In division two, Andy Jones was the only one to beat par on +1, two in front of Neil Brownhills and Steven Fenn, who both finished on -1.

Styal’s Sunday stableford was won by Peter Mendes with 39 points, four more than Tony Nabarro, Jeffrey Chadwick, Ken Bristowe and David Graham-Jones.

Meanwhile, Styal ladies played a singles stableford which was won by Helen Billington.

She finished with 36 points, with Kath Goodall and Aileen Holohan on 34 and 33 respectively.
