JACK Shore cemented his place in Cage Warriors history by claiming the vacant world bantamweight title with a dominant performance over London’s Mike Ekundayo in Cardiff, writes Jason Batty.

The promotion, which celebrated its 100th show at Ice Arena Wales on Saturday, saw Shore follow in the footsteps of Conor McGregor, Jack Marshman and Brett Johns, who all collected the golden strap in their Cage Warrior careers.

Walking into the octagon, Shore's demeanour was as a cold as the covered ice beneath his feet, and as he entered the cage flanked by dad and coach Richard, the sold-out arena sang his name.

The first round saw Ekundayo look to close the distance to nullify Shore's striking ability, but while tied up against the fence, the Welshman swept the leg of his foe to secure top position and look for an arm triangle.

However, a stubborn Ekundayo resisted as Tillery Combat's Shore smashed him with several blows.

Known as 'The Backpack' due to his expertise in grappling, Ekundayo came into the second round looking to take Shore to the ground.

He did just that but Shore got back to his feet before initiating a trip to put Ekundayo back on the deck.

Shore then demonstrated his supreme control as he looked for a choke while suffocating and whipping elbows at Ekundayo to win another round.

Battered and bruised, the Londoner began round three again seeking a takedown, only for Shore to assume top position and let fly with heavy shots until the referee put an end to the contest.

The gulf in class was evident and Shore's ability to beat Ekundayo at his own game saw the Welshman take his record to 10-0.

The bantamweight crown is usually a ticket to the UFC and with Shore blowing away the biggest challenger on the Cage Warriors roster, the Abertillery native could now be set for the big time.

Meanwhile, it wasn't such a good night in the capital for Shore’s teammates Kris Edwards and Josh Reed who both suffered submission defeats.
