NEWPORT County AFC defender Fraser Franks insists League Two leaders MK Dons will not be relishing today’s trip to Rodney Parade.

County have been stuttering on the road in recent weeks but there is no stopping them at home.

Michael Flynn’s men have won seven, drawn two and lost just once in 10 league games in front of their own fans.

And they are full of confidence after Tuesday’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Wrexham, according to Franks.

“I fancy us at home against anyone,” said the centre-back.

“As long as we do what we’re good at and we’re intense and we press teams, I think anyone will find it difficult [at Rodney Parade].

“I’ve played against Newport for quite a few teams so I know what it’s like as an away player.

“And if the fans can [create a hostile atmosphere] for us, like they did on Tuesday, then it gives us every chance.

“If you’re going to challenge, your home form needs to be good,” added Franks.

“And, apart from that one result, we’ve looked really solid at home.”

The win over Wrexham means County will host Premier League Leicester City in the third-round on January 6 but Franks says the players will be fully focused on the league until then.

“We’ve got four or five big games against teams around us before then and it gives us an opportunity to take points off them,” he said.

“We want to be going into that Leicester game on the back of a few good wins and in a good league position.

“I don’t think it’s a distraction. It’s one game that is three weeks away. It’s something to look forward to and something that the boys, especially the young ones in the team, should relish.

“But we play the top two in the next two games so those are games you don’t need to get yourself up for.

“We can’t be thinking about anything other than those games.”
