NEWPORT County AFC boss Michael Flynn was delighted with his team's performance after they blew away Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Jamille Matt scored two and Padraig Amond and Fraser Franks also netted as the Exiles romped to a 4-1 win over the League Two basement boys.

"They were superb," said Flynn. "It was a perfect away performance – the way we defended, the way we kept our composure straight after conceding, and the goals we scored were absolutely superb.

"I’m very proud of them tonight, they were excellent.

"Jamille Matt’s cross for Padraig Amond’s goal was unbelievable wing-play.

"I thought he was unplayable tonight. He bullied their defenders.

"Podge’s [Amond] movement was excellent as well and Joss Labadie, Scot Bennett and Robbie Willmott were unbelievable in midfield – especially as two of them had bookings early on.

"But right through the team there were great performances – Joe Day made a brilliant save at 4-1 with 10 minutes to go and Fraser, Mickey [Demetriou], OB [Mark O'Brien] and Regan [Poole] were all solid – every single one of them."

South Wales Argus:

It was a first away win in the league since September 22 and ended a run of seven successive defeats on the road in League Two.

"We’ve played well on the road and we haven’t got the results we’ve deserved," said the Exiles boss.

"We’ve lost seven [in a row] but we should have got something out of at least five of them.

"It’s very frustrating. We’ve sometimes started badly and other times ended poorly, but all the ingredients were there in different games.

"Tonight it was excellent from start to finish, and that’s what’s needed because you might not always get that amount of chances."
