NEWPORT will tune-up for the season by taking on Indigo Premiership rivals Pontypridd.

The Black and Ambers will travel to the plastic pitch at Sardis Road for the friendly on Saturday, August 10 (kick-off 2.30pm).

The clash will ensure stiff opposition for Newport and give plenty for new boss Ty Morris, who has stepped up from forwards coach to replace Craig Warlow, to assess. They also travel to Cinderford on Thursday, August 22 (kick-off 7.15pm)

Newport kick off their league campaign with a trip to Gwent rivals Ebbw Vale on Saturday, September 7.

The following month they host Merthyr and the game has been moved back a day to Sunday, October 27 (kick-off 2.30pm) because of a fixture clash with the Dragons’ home encounter with Glasgow in the Guinness PRO14.

The Specsavers Cup, round one clash against Carmarthen Quins has been moved to Friday, September 13 (kick-off 8pm) because of the Dragons’ double-header with the Scarlets.
