Students from Newport's Karate World life skills and martial arts academy were honoured recently in the media4communities Awards 2007.
The youngsters were asked to make a film about the academy and their efforts, called Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It, was runner-up in the best overall film category.
A few members of the academy entertained the audience as openers to the proceedings, which were attended by the mayor of Cardiff and specially invited guests from the world of business and television.
Colin Voisey, owner of Capital TV and former head of film at HTV, organised the ceremony which he called a showcase of today's best talent from communities across South Wales.
Mr Voisey invited Karate World after meeting with Master Everton Smith and witnessing the work that he and his team had done in countless primary schools.
The day was a great success and Karate World have been asked to produce further films in association with Media 4 in the future.
