GLOUCESTER prospect Louis Rees-Zammit has reiterated his desire to play for Wales after signing a first senior deal with the Cherry and Whites.

The 18-year-old has been tipped for a Six Nations call-up thanks to his blistering displays at Kingsholm.

The speedster from Cardiff is said to be on Eddie Jones' radar but has no intention of playing for England.

"My dream is to represent Wales at an international level, and I just want to keep working hard to achieve this goal, along with helping Gloucester reach our ambitions for success."

South Wales Argus:

Rees-Zammit has strong competition in the back three but Wayne Pivac could opt to bring the bright talent in for the Six Nations camp.

He is eligible to play for Wales for the duration of his newly-signed contract as the Welsh Rugby Union's senior player selection policy does not apply for those yet to play Test rugby.

Gloucester haven't revealed the length of the deal, only that it is "long-term".

"I love being at Gloucester Rugby and I am enjoying every second of being part of such a great squad," said the winger.

"It's been such an exciting year for me, and I am grateful for the support of all the staff, players and fans."

Rees-Zammit made his Cherry and Whites debut last season but has really caught the eye in recent months.

He became the youngster player to score a Premiership hat-trick and was named as the league's player of the month for December.

"Not many 18-year-old academy players get an opportunity to play regular Premiership and Champions Cup, but Louis has taken his chance and become a regular member of the match day squad over the last few months," said director of rugby David Humphreys.

"Having just signed an Academy contract, Louis's form has now been rewarded with a long-term senior contract based on his outstanding performances for Gloucester Rugby.

"Louis has a very exciting future ahead of him and if he continues to work hard at his game, he will achieve success at club level and ultimately at international level with Wales."
