EBBW Vale stalwarts Ross Jones and Rob Sevenoaks will continue to lay the foundations for the Steelmen next season in the Premiership.

The props are among a number of front-rowers that have committed to Ebbw, who will be skippered by hooker Joe Franchi.

Jones and Sevenoaks, firm figures in the team that worked back into the top flight and won the Premiership title in 2016, will enter their 11th campaigns at Eugene Cross Park and are both closing in on 250 games.

The club intend their first game back at home after the coronavirus pandemic to be a testimonial match for the popular propping pair with a Jones XV taking on a Sevenoaks XV.

Jones will battle for the 1 jersey with former Dragons prop Luke Garrett and Joel Harries, who has spent the last three seasons with Ebbw but is hoping for a change of luck with injury.

South Wales Argus:

The tussle at tighthead will see Sevenoaks pushed by Dave Whiting, who is looking to specialise on the right after previously covering across the front row.

Ellis Evans, who signed from Brynmawr last summer, will also be in the mix after a two-month lay-off with a thumb injury last season.

Franchi may be skipper and is approaching 150 games for the club but he will be pushed for the start by Mikhail Blake, who enters his second campaign with Ebbw after arriving from Cwmbran in 2019.

The front rowers will be put through their paces by former Dragons tighthead Gethin Robinson, who has returned to Ebbw after cutting his coaching teeth with Cwmbran, along with head coach Greg Woods, who was a hooker in his playing days.
