LEE Selby’s title eliminator against George Kambosos Jr has been rescheduled for the autumn in Cardiff.

The 33-year-old will take on the unbeaten Australian (18-0) at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday, October 3 with the winner going on to face IBF lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.

The venue in the capital had been meant to host the IBF lightweight title eliminator on May 9 and then July 11 only for the coronavirus pandemic to scupper the plans.

Selby (28-2) has been unable to work with trainer Tony Borg at St Joseph’s, instead having to train in a makeshift gym in his Barry home.

South Wales Argus:

He now has a date to work towards as he aims to become a two-weight world champion.

Selby became the IBF featherweight champion by beating Evgeny Gradovich in May 2015 and held the title until being beaten by Josh Warrington at Elland Road two years ago.

He has responded to the disappointment by moving up to lightweight and beating Omar Douglas and Ricky Burns in London.

“I'd be the first Welshman to do so, so to me that means more than any fight is worth, to write my name in the history books,” he said in March.
