JACK Shore says there is more to come after maintaining his perfect record with another dominant display for win number 13 on UFC Fight Island, writes Jason Batty.

The Shore Mixed Martial Arts Academy fighter and former Cage Warriors world champion beat Aaron Phillips in Abu Dhabi last weekend.

The 25-year-old from Abertillery has made the progression to UFC look seamless but insists this is just the beginning.

"The sky is the limit. I am getting better in every single camp. I did things in this camp that I'd never done and I feel I'm still learning and improving," he said.

"As long as I keep the right mindset of trying to improve with each camp, I've got plenty more to give.

"There's plenty in the striking department that people haven't seen, much more in my defensive game people are yet to see.

"I haven't been in a five-round fight yet; I feel I have that in me. There's plenty more from me to come."

On the memorable night in Abu Dhabi, leading commentator and former world champion Michael Bisping even compared Shore's style to MMA legend George St Pierre.

High praise indeed, yet still assesses his fights like his biggest critic would.

South Wales Argus:

"Looking back I was happy with it, I did feel a little bit sloppy in the first minute or two, that's me being overly critical if anything," he said.

"On the feet, I didn't get my range right like a normally do, but it went on and I got into my grove I found my way. I would give it a solid eight out of ten.

"I found the commentary afterwards overwhelming and humbling. Bisping himself is a hall of famer, so just having Bisping commentating on my fight was a little surreal.

"Hearing him say he's seen my fights before, he's done his research, that was nuts! Then comparing my style to GSP, it was a compliment I'd definitely take!

"If I can achieve one third of what GSP achieved in his career, then I'll retire a happy man. Fingers crossed, I can keep producing."

Styles make fights, and Shore's style has seen him walk out of his two UFC fights relatively unscathed.

He looked like man who could fight again the same night but the next opportunity to fight on the world's biggest stage may be towards the end of the year when the promotion returns to Fight Island.

"October or November would be ideal. November would be first pick, it gives me a few weeks to enjoy the summer and a good few months to work on techniques with my coaches. I definitely want to get another one in by the end of the year," said Shore.

"What the UFC pulled off was unbelievable, to put something together like that in that time frame is unreal. I'd be lying if I said it was not a tough experience though.

"Even if I don't get to fight there again, it was great to go there and say I was one of the guys to do it."

When Shore returns he can expect a tough gig. The bantamweight division is the blessed with former champions and rising stars.

"It's full of sharks, top to bottom," said Shore. "Look at the guys ranked in the top 15, they are all killers.

"Look at the guys outside the top 15, it's stacked! The top 30 guy could all be champions one day, it is a great time to be part of the division."

It was a classy performance inside and outside the octagon for Shore.

After securing the victory he immediately walked to the cameras pointing to his gumshield revealing a rainbow coloured mouthpiece inscribed with the words 'NHS' and shouting "Support the NHS".

"The NHS are under a lot of stress at the moment in the UK. I have friends and family who work for the NHS and rely on them," he said.

"They are the ones putting their lives on the line every day, I fight because I love to do it. They deserve a lot more credit than they get, this was a tribute from me to them."

The tribute doesn't end there. Shore is auctioning the gumshield on social media with all proceeds going to the NHS. Bidding ends on July 27.
