NEWPORT County AFC will welcome Norwich City’s youngsters to Rodney Parade in the EFL Trophy.

The Exiles were drawn against the Championship side, who suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, League One Plymouth Argyle and League Two rivals Cheltenham Town in Southern Group F.

The fixtures have been confirmed with Michael Flynn’s men getting under way against Cheltenham in Newport on Tuesday, September 8 (kick-off 7pm).

That fixture against the Robins is sandwiched by the Carabao Cup clash against Swansea on Saturday, September 5 (kick-off 3pm) and the League Two opener at Scunthorpe seven days later.

The Canaries’ under-21s are County’s second opponents in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, October 6 (kick-off 7pm) before a trip to Home Park to face the Pilgrims, who were promoted last season, on Tuesday, November 10 (kick-off 7pm).

Flynn’s squad made the semi-finals of the competition in 2019/20 but lost a penalty shootout against Salford City at Rodney Parade.

The final is yet to be played with Salford facing holders Portsmouth, who had sold 50,000 tickets for the Wembley clash.
