NEWPORT County AFC will have home advantage in their bid to earn another clash with the big boys after being drawn against League Two rivals Salford City.

The Exiles’ reward for a 2-1 win against Leyton Orient is a tie at Rodney Parade versus the team that beat them on penalties in the semi-finals of the EFL Trophy last season, that after they had left Newport with three points in November 2019.

Salford are currently 10th in League Two on 16 points from 10 fixtures, nine points behind Michael Flynn’s pace-setters.

The fixture will be played on the last weekend of November with the winners progressing to round three, when clubs from the Premier League and Championship enter the tournament.

County will head to the North West of England two weeks after the cup clash for a league encounter.
