NEWPORT County AFC were beaten 3-0 by Cardiff City in a friendly game at the Championship club’s training base this afternoon.

The encounter was arranged to give minutes to those that have not featured frequently in the respective first teams.

Newport were keen to keep the training exercise quiet but the Bluebirds released video footage of the goals, with Kieron Evans hitting a double and Josh Murphy curling in a terrific third.

Nine County players who could be made out on the highlights were Wales squad goalkeeper Tom King, defenders Aaron Lewis, Ash Baker, Kyle Howkins and Bradley Webb, midfielders Robbie Willmott, Jamie Devitt and Lewis Collins plus forward Saikou Janneh.

Michael Flynn’s side drew 1-1 at Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday to keep their League Two top spot and host Morecambe at Rodney Parade on Saturday.
