CARDIFF Blues are leaving their temporary home of Newport's Rodney Parade for the next few derby matches.

The Blues will now play their upcoming home Welsh derbies against the Ospreys and Scarlets at Cardiff City Stadium.

The Cardiff side have been playing their home games at the home of the Dragons and Newport County AFC during the time when Cardiff Arms Park has been out of action.

Their normal home stadium had been commissioned into being part of the Dragon’s Heart field hospital complex.

However, after the Principality Stadium site was decommissioned, the Arms Park artificial pitch required relaying after it was damaged.

Newport County AFC are hosting Southend in League Two and then Brighton in the FA Cup third round in the opening weekend of the new year.

Both of these are home games and, as a result, the Blues have had to look elsewhere to play their home games.

Cardiff City Stadium is available to them, as Cardiff City are away on the opening two weekends of January.

The Blues previously played at the home of the Bluebirds for between 2009 and 2012.

However, attendances steadily dwindled, and they ended up returning to the Arms Park.

This time it will just be a temporary return.
