MICHAEL Flynn said that Newport County AFC never considered losing home advantage as an option for another FA Cup clash against a Premier League giant despite the cold snap.

The Exiles have joined forces with the Dragons to hire a dome cover for Rodney Parade ahead of a double-header.

The Dragons entertain the Ospreys in the Guinness PRO14 this evening before County's Sunday night meeting with Brighton and Hove Albion (kick-off 7.45pm).

Flynn's side suffered a pair of postponements last week when their League Two game against Exeter was scuppered by a waterlogged pitch and then the surface was frozen for their fixture against Southend.

The third round tie has been chosen for live coverage by BT Sport, leading to a welcome financial boost, but County were still not tempted to ask for it to be moved to the Amex Stadium.

Oldham Athletic have been allowed to move their encounter with Bournemouth to the south coast of England because of Boundary Park is frozen but the Exiles want Brighton to head to a ground where Leicester have lost, Tottenham have drawn and Manchester City were held until half-time.

On moving the game, Flynn said: "No chance! We've got to be forward thinking and the board and the Dragons deserve a lot of credit.

"The dome cover is not that expensive and it probably would have cost more to get down to Brighton.

"They are doing everything they can to make sure the games are on so it's a good initiative and they are on the front foot."

South Wales Argus:

The dome cover will be put back up soon after the final whistle of the Dragons versus Ospreys game this evening.

"The dry weather and the frost will actually help it to a point where it will be a lot flatter," said Flynn.

"It will be bobbly, especially because of the game on the Saturday, but the groundstaff have worked exceptionally hard on there.

"They will have it in the best possible condition but it will be bobbly, that's just how it is.

"I hope it is an eye opener and Brighton walk through the gates at Rodney Parade and think that they can't wait to get out of there!

"We've got to use things to our advantage because we know that nine times out of ten they win the game because of the quality and strength in depth and the level they are playing at.

"Let's hope this is that one out of ten and we win, as we have in the past."
