NEWPORT County AFC boss Michael Flynn says everybody has a part to play in the promotion push – with Aaron Lewis a prime example.

The Exiles head to Port Vale this evening hunting a fourth successive win in League Two after triumphs against Colchester, Bradford and Morecambe.

The games will come thick and fast until the end of the season and Flynn knows that he will need his whole squad if County are to at least stay in the play-off spots and possibly force their way into the top three.

Several players have been fringe figures so far and that was the case for Lewis until last week.

Ryan Haynes suffered a groin injury and that led to the former Wales Under-21s international coming into the side at left wing-back.

He did well in the win against the Bantams and then was mightily impressive against the Shrimps, with a vital late interception a couple of yards out to preserve the 3-1 lead after Nick Townsend failed to gather a shot.

Lewis endured a frustrating spell when on loan in the first half of the campaign, making just one appearance, but returned in February after being released by Lincoln City and has been rewarded for his patience.

"He was excellent. He made a good recovery challenge in the first half at Morecambe and when he followed up when Nick spilled it.

"It could have been a scary few minutes at the end but he was on his toes. He was brilliant."

Lewis impressed as a starter while Nicky Maynard put fellow replacement Kevin Ellison in for the clinching goal.

"The subs played their part and they did in the win against Bradford," said Flynn.

"I have spoken to them all. They all have a massive part to play between now and the end of the season.

"Whether it's one minute or 10 games, they all have a part to play and they all have to be ready."

David Longe-King is in line for a return to the starting line-up if Priestley Farquharson fails to recover in time after being forced off late on against the Shrimps.
