EVERGREEN Dragons prop Brok Harris has been named as the Guinness PRO14 Tackle Machine after missing just four times in a remarkable 2020/21, writes Chris Kirwan.
Harris, who is in talks over a contract extension that would extend his Rodney Parade career into an eighth season, boasted an success rate of 97.6 per cent for the campaign.
The 36-year-old South African racked up a total of 170 tackles, fifth in the league, landed the title ahead of Glasgow flanker Tom Gordon (97.1 per cent).
Harris has been a mainstay of the Dragons pack since arriving from the Stormers and Western Province in 2014 and only 11 players have made more than his 141 appearances.
The loosehead has played 17 times in all competitions this season with a solitary missed game against Zebre.
Harris has shouldered a heavy burden in the absence of injured summer signing Greg Bateman and has been a leading figure in the Dragons’ improvement in the set piece.
That combined with his work rate around the park makes the popular front rower a key member of the side, and is likely to lead to a fresh deal.
