NEWPORT County AFC spent £41,442 on agents’ fees in the 12 months to the start of February, new data published by the Football Association shows.

The seventh-placed Exiles, who totted up £51,740 the previous year, spent the 11th highest figure in League Two with Salford City topping the pile with £137,884.

The total from all clubs in the fourth tier was £1,069,115 – down by about £100,000 – with Barrow AFC having the lowest total of £13,359.

The FA information states that the transactions where an intermediary was used were for the arrival of Jack Evans from Swansea, Ryan Taylor from Plymouth, David Longe-King from St Albans City and Dom Telford from Plymouth.
