BOSS Michael Flynn has vowed that Newport County AFC will fight fire with fire when they face a Forest Green Rovers side chasing a famous play-off comeback.
The Exiles are in command of their League Two semi-final thanks to goals by Matty Dolan and Lewis Collins in a 2-0 success at Rodney Parade.
However, they missed chances to put the tie to bed and Rovers have pledged to get on the front foot at the New Lawn on Sunday (kick-off 6.30pm) in their bid to turn the tide with an early goal.
County deservedly head to Gloucestershire with an advantage – but they want to increase it rather than sit on it.
"We know that Forest Green are a dangerous team, and we knew that before the first game," said manager Flynn.
"All the cliches apply – they will start as quickly as they can, they will throw the kitchen sink at us - but we are going there to win the game and won't just sit back and invite pressure.
"We need to be in their faces and impose our game on them but we need to make sure we don't do anything silly.
"We need a performance similar to Tuesday night and have to stick to what we are good at. We can't afford to go away from our attacking strengths just because we have a 2-0 advantage.
"We would have taken that before the first game but we know that it's not done.
"It will be an interesting game and we are all looking forward to the test."
County were backed by 900 supporters at Rodney Parade and it will be Rovers' turn to have backing at the New Lawn.
Flynn said: "Our players will just get on with it – and some of them actually play better when there is somebody on their case!
"They will come out fast and try to use their crowd but we just have to concentrate on ourselves.
"If the boys pay to the level that they are capable of and make no mistakes for the 95 minutes then hopefully it will be enough."
Captain Joss Labadie has been declared fit for Sunday after a serious cut to his left knee on last day at Southend, although County also said the midfielder was ready for the first leg.
If the skipper truly does have the green light then it gives Flynn a dilemma about starting the talisman or having him on the bench.
Forest Green boss Jimmy Ball also has some calls to make with midfielder Ebou Adams back from suspension while Dan Sweeney, Nicky Cadden and former County striker Jamille Matt returned from injury off the bench in Newport.
"They have some good players back but they had their full team when we played them in December and drew 1-1 at the New Lawn when we should have won," said Flynn.
"I said right at the start of the play-offs that it would be tight all the way. We saw that between Tranmere and Morecambe and it will be just the same on Sunday."
