DRAGONS fly-half Evan Lloyd has signed his first senior contract.

The 21-year-old made his debut for the Rodney Parade region as a replacement in the first half of the Champions Cup clash against Bordeaux-Begles.

He made his PRO14 bow off the bench in March against Edinburgh at Principality Stadium and played at Rodney Parade for the first time as a sub against the Scarlets in the Rainbow Cup, playing at full-back and helping to set up tries for fellow young guns Rio Dyer and Aneurin Owen.

Lloyd will now aim to push for more action next season as back-up to Sam Davies and Josh Lewis after the departure of Arwel Robson to Cornish Pirates.

The Dragons have also added four young prospects to their academy for next season after they impressed in age-grade rugby.

Back rower Ryan Woodman, centre Oli Andrew and scrum-half Che Hope have signed deals along with full-back Joe Westwood, grandson of Newbridge legend Keith and son of Jonathan.

Director of rugby Dean Ryan said: “Evan has earned his opportunities this season and is a dedicated young player who we are looking forward to working with in the long-term.

“It’s also great to see local Gwent players sign first Academy contracts. Congratulations to all four who we look to now continuing to develop in our environment.”
